Chip – LOOK

Music Video Review

The new video for Chip has dropped online featuring the legend that is Ghetts, these two are both monsters bar for bar, possibly the two best lyricists in grime. It’s always exciting when these two bless the mic because no one knows what could happen.

The beat for this is dark and grimey which reflects the tone of the video, which is purely black and white which is as about as dark and grimey as you can get with a plain backdrop that is very static, all the energy and movement resonates from the artists just think of the Jamiroquai – Virtual Insanity video but without the moving floor and furniture from IKEA.

Imagine your in a very large changing room in Topman but the mirror is on the floor instead of the wall and you got the vibe. The hook is very catchy too and you will probably know the chorus in the first minute of the video after he repeats the chorus 100 times throughout but it is really catchy and I imagine it will go off while you’re driving around in your car this year.

The video treatment borrows a lot of the elements taken from the 90’s in Hip Hop when artists were very comfortable performing with high energy and rapping straight to the camera similar to Puff Daddy and Mase video “Can’t Nobody Hold Me Down “ and The Notorious B.I.G video “Mo Money Mo Problems” but without the explosions , shiny suits , expensive cars , sexy women , backup dancers and expensive budget.

During the video, Chip looks like he is about to have a mental breakdown when Ghetts mysteriously whispers sweet nothings in his ear like a grime grim reaper but instead he begins to power up like a Super saiyan to deliver a concussive stream of bars like a spirit bomb.

“Diamonds get made like that, you can try to apply pressure my way  I apply pressure right back”

Then Ghetts fully appears dressed in the outfit like the black Splinter Cell without the goggles on ready to shower down heavier than rain at Glastboury. One of the stand out bars is when Ghetts spits “reflecting’ I dont’t like those mirrors My name’s Justin but I don’t cry no rivers”  with spectacular delivery.

Then the video ends with a few more repetitive lines of the chorus in case you forgot the name of the track. Overall the video showcases just how high energy both these artists are being able to capture the attention and engagement of the viewer with just their performance.

However, it would have been good if they added more to the video as well as the track as with even one of the best rappers in the world like Notorious B.I.G had to add some flashy lights to the video for a little wow factor which never hurts anyone.

VidGarms – Mens Clothing

In this video we see a contrast mainly between a black and white outfit , the white outfit is a parker coat white jeans and air force ones and the black is a classic black tracksuit.

VIDEO –  Men’s fashion wear don’ts

It’s difficult to criticise this videos outfits as the wardrobe is very strong from both artists, the only thing I would say as I would like to see more of Chip embracing his own clothing line.

He has his own brand of clothing under Cash Motto which would be a perfect time to showcase your own merch and brand of clothing after all if the artist doesn’t wear their own clothing range neither will the fanbase.
